1. Instruments manufactured after 1936 range in serial number from 1350-3600. The log book shows the serial numbers jumping around quite a bit for the Selmer/Adolphe Sax saxophones. Even so, its possible from this record to assemble a basic serial number chart for these instruments. Some instruments were stamped H. Selmer and some were not.

Author: Debbie Date: 1999-06-29 04:21 My personal experience with the Selmer 'Signet' line of clarinets is that they are classified as intermediate-level instruments; the 3 basic models of 'Signet' were, from 'bottom to top' as it were - the 'Signet 100' model= your basic intermediate clarinet; next level up, the 'Signet Special'= basically the same as the 'Signet 100', only with a better.
3. This is a beautiful, fully refurbished, Selmer Signet Special wood clarinet. Serial number 104757. The instrument was disassembled and cleaned. The body was given a bore oil treatment along with a hand rubbed oil treatment on the outside. The keys were buffed to the highest shine the plating allows. There are some normal signs of ware.
4. I have a clarinet bought in late 1950's. On the clarinet are the stamping of Signet special made by Selmer. Only number visable is 25684. No visable cracks, original case. May need corks and pads as they may be somewhat dried out.
